Students in second and third grade learned about famous collage artist Henri Matisse and created colorful leaf collages using cut paper.
In art we have been discussing the reading comprehension strategy visualizing. As we read, our mind creates images of the characters and settings in the story using the authors description and our imagination. We created drawings of Marvin, one of the main characters from our 2013 One School One Book selection M A S T E R P I E C E ! We created colorful backgrounds using tissue paper to bring attention to these special drawings. Artworks by students in Mrs. Hart's class.
